About me
Hello! My name is Taj Ruler. My friends have described me as being curious, strangers have told me I'm hilarious, and Beyonce has told me I'm flawless.
I have been a freelance artist for the past twelve years. You may have seen me perform at The Brave New workshop in Minneapolis or heard my voice on a Target commercial. I moved back to Minnesota from California after graduating from Pitzer College with my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre Performance and Media Studies. I have also studied at the Guthrie Theatre, the Brave New Workshop, and The London Dramatic Academy.
As a scripted actor, I have been performing on the stages of Twin Cities theaters since elementary school. Some theaters include Children's Theatre Company, Pillsbury House Theatre, Mixed Blood Theatre, The Playwrights’ Center, and Park Square Theater.
As an improvisational actor, I've worked at a number of improvisational theaters around the country including HUGE Theatre and The Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis, Second City in Chicago, Jet City Improv in Seattle, Two Friends Theater in New Orleans, Denver Improv in Colorado, Femproviser Fest in San Fransisco, and The Magnet Theatre in New York. I additionally trained at The Groundlings in LA and Second City in Chicago. Improv has allowed me to take more risks, grow as a scripted actor, and have a, "yes and" attitude in my every day life.
Some fun facts:
• I love to support others and focus on respect and equity.
• I can put a 1000 piece puzzle together in a couple of hours (NBD)
• I've gotten most of the high scores on Ms Pac Man machines in Minneapolis.
• I have named all my plants (and most inanimate objects).
•I dislike small talk, being cold, and melon in my fruit cups.
